What is Breakout?
Breakout is our Wednesday evening spiritual formation program for kids in 3rd-5th grades designed as a club night for kids. Children grades 3 & 4 work through basic Bible doctrines of the faith in an age appropriate way. While 5th graders work through the specifics of sharing their faith with friends and family in Dare To Be A Daniel (D2BD). Kids grow together with the same small group of kids all year developing strong relationships with both their leaders and the other children in their groups. And there is plenty of fun while they do it—including awards for completing their books and two outside Fun Nights that they can take part in!
What does a Breakout C Group look like?
Each group has one leader with six to seven children. Each child receives a Breakout or D2BD book. Students complete a lesson from their book at home each week and then discuss their homework with their small group and learn to apply biblical truth to their lives. Each group exchanges prayer requests and spends time praying for one another.
How does my child prepare for his/her lesson each week?
In addition to regularly attending their weekly Breakout small groups, children are expected to complete their lesson at home, including memorization of one Bible verse, with encouragement of a parent – of course! They will also continue to attend their local church service or Son Harbor on the weekend.
Additional Breakout outreach opportunities
Each year, 3rd year Breakout kids are given the opportunity to serve one weekend at Silver Birch Ranch in White Lake, WI. We gather the kids and leaders together and drive up on a Friday and get back Sunday afternoon. Dates are listed on following pages. We have a blast and work pretty hard too! A separate permission slip is required for this event along with $20 per child/weekend.
D2BD kids will also participate in multiple Dare 2 Serve (D2Serve) field trips in the regular course of Breakout night. The dates of these are listed on the main schedule and will usually be on Wednesday evenings.
How much does it cost for my child to be in Breakout?
Year 1 (3rd grade): $65 per child (includes t-shirt)
Year 2-3 (4th-5th grade): $55 per child (add $10 if you need a new t-shirt)
Note: Fee covers the cost of all materials, awards and two Fun Nights (payment plans available, if needed)
How do I get my child involved?
Fill out a registration form (paper copy or online) for each student in your family that is in Breakout.
Paper Copy: You may return completed forms with the registration fee (on or before September 19th, 2011) to the Son Harbor Courtesy Desk or mail it to Christ The Rock Community Church, W6254 Hwy 10-114, Menasha, WI, 54952.
