A time to act...

As we follow the horrific earthquake in Haiti on our Global Blog, we know we must reach out to those who are hurting. How are we to wrap our minds around the suffering happening at this very minute as people come to terms with the fact that their loved ones, their homes and their belongings are no longer there?

Christ The Rock is committed to begin funding initial recovery needs out of emergency reserves as we move toward long-term relief efforts. We have long-term established relationships on the ground in Haiti, and through those relationships we can not only assess the greatest needs, but we can trust that whatever we send financially will go 100 percent directly to those who are hurting and in need help the most.

If you would like to increase our relief response with your own financial gift, simply send a donation in any amount to Christ The Rock Community Church, and write "Haiti Relief Fund" in your check memo.

Q & A

Where will my gift go?

100 percent of your gift designated for the Haiti Relief Fund goes directly to the Haitian people who need it most, through our trusted connections--people whom we've built long-term relationships--who are living and working in Haiti.

How will my gift be used?

Three things are needed most: Medical supplies, food and fresh drinking water.

How soon will the Haitian people receive my gift?

In just a few weeks a medical team of Fox Valley doctors and nurses will travel to Haiti with these supplies and donations in hand.

Why can't you simply wire the financial donations to Haiti today?

At the moment the entire banking system in Haiti is non-operational. This means that the only way the Hatian people can get supplies and money for fresh drinking water and food is from those who are coming into that nation from other countries.

I want to give online, but I am uncomfortable with creating a login account. Why do you have this program in place?

As a non-profit organization, this particular program was the least expensive way to go. (Other online tools like PayPal cost money that could be better put to use where it is needed.) The standard login form with this program requires the same information you would give to any other online giving program, and we can assure you that your information will only be used to provide you with a copy of your giving statement at the end of the year for your tax records.

Can I go to Haiti to help?

We are advised that sending people who are not medical professionals may actually create new problems. We do know that the need for hands-on help will exist in Haiti for many months to come.  For non-medical volunteers, is best to wait a few months until the immediate needs are met and volunteer resources are in place.
