• India’s population will be 1 billion, 205 million – which is 1/6 of the world’s population.
• Bombay is the largest city, nearly 18 million.
• One-third of Bombay’s population lives in slums.
• The capital city is Delhi – 11.3 million.
• One-fourth of India’s population earns less than 40 cents per day.
• India has a higher rate of malnutrition among children under the age of three than any other country in the world.
• Approximately 35% of the population are considered food insecure.
• Prostitution/sex slave industry is huge in Bombay.  Estimates of 60,000 prostitutes in a 10 square mile radius in the red light district.
• Forty percent of India are called the “untouchables”, the outcasts/forgotten.
