CTR's Involvement In Romania
Camp Bit of Heaven - Founded by Cristi Hodoroba, Camp Bit of Heaven reaches out to the young people of Romania, including the large Gypsy population, with the message of Christ. The camp setting provides a wonderful place to capture the attention and hearts of the children and teenagers who come to camp, offering them the hope of Christ. The camp is located in the central part of Romania in Fagaras – near the Carpathian Mountains. There are 10 to 12 camps per summer, where more than 600 children participate. Cristi and his wife Daniela have three children.
Horizon of Hope - Petry and Kyle Groza and their three children minister through a worship ministry at a local evangelical church in Fagaras. Kyle teaches English in a local village and in the community. Horizon of Hope is a ministry whose main goal is to reach the young adults of Romania and give them physical skills (carpentry, auto mechanics, computer, farming and accounting) to help them survive after they leave a foster home, orphanage or their own home.
Discovery Trips - Teams have been going to Romania for over ten years, including construction trips and working with Camp Bit of Heaven. Trips are currently scheduled for spring (construction), summer (Camp Bit of Heaven), early fall (men's retreat).

- Haiti - Even before the catastrophic earthquake, Haiti was known as the least developed country in the Western Hemisphere and one of the poorest nations in the world. About 80% of the population lives in abject poverty, ranking the country second-last in the world. Nearly 70.5% of all Haitians depend on the agriculture sector, which consists mainly of small scale subsistence farming. The country has experienced little formal job creation over the past decade and has consistently ranked among the most corrupt countries in the world.

- Sahara Desert - Since 1975 more than 160,000 Saharawi have lived in 4 large refugee camps located in the southwestern corner of Algeria. This area of the vast Sahara Desert is one of the most inhospitable places on earth- temperatures soar past 135 degrees in the summer and can drop below freezing in the winter. Current Conditions in the Camps
- Basic food is trucked in from humanitarian organizations, and includes rice, flour, pasta, sugar and lentils. These rations are based on what is given people in a crisis situation, not meant to sustain a nation for more than 30 years.
- Most families have been split ever since the invasion. Many men are in the military or working abroad to earn money. After age 12, children must get their education outside of the camps.
- Medical help is limited. Malnutrition and anemia are common. Many ailments go unnoticed and untreated. Majority of the elderly suffer from lung problems from so many years in the desert.
- When students do get college degrees as lawyers, doctors, teachers, engineers, sociologists, politicians, journalists, their only option is to return to the camps.
Christ The Rock's Involvement in the Camps
- Short-term trips: Short term teams participate in the English center (conversation circles, classes), spend time with families and children and other activities.
- Annual Seminars: Religious dialogue to hold peaceful dialogue about Christianity and Islam, and Young Women’s seminars to teach about worth, identity and value and address issues they struggle with.
- Essalam English Center: Working alongside Saharawi to teach 30-50 adults each semester. CTR sends teachers every semester for 3-4 months. Is also a center for relationship building through community activities.
- Gardens: Supporting the work of a Saharawi Agriculturalist to provide families with gardens to grow their own fruits and vegetables year-round.

- Mexico - Muzquiz is a community located approximately 90 miles southwest of Eagle Pass, Texas. Our involvement began with Dave Innerebner who took his Disciple Training Class made up of Ojibwa Indians from the U.S. and Canada on an outreach to Mexico. Their original plans did not materialize, so they began to pray and ask God where they should go. As they looked over a map they discovered El Nacimiento, the place where Black Seminoles live near a Kickapoo Tribe, just outside of Musquiz. A few years later we joined Dave and Pam with our first family / high school trip which consisted of 35 people. We were unable to meet with the Kickapoo but did build some great bridges with the Black Seminole Indians and the people of Morelos. Through those relationships we met Pastor Juan Antonio who had a small church in Muzquiz reaching out to a poor community called District 28, where we have been serving ever since. Over the past 10 years, we have sent over 800 people on short term mission trips. We were able to put up soccer goals, basketball hoops, swing sets, perform skits/dramas, offer children's programs, support Pastor Juan, and mostly bring hope to the community.

Current Conditions Surrounding Muzquiz
- Prostitution is at its highest level resulting in STDs, abortion and unwanted / abandoned children, which makes up many of the kids we reach out to in District 28.
- Crack cocaine has found its way into the community which adds to its marijuana and huffing gas & paint thinner problems.
- Alcohol remains one of the biggest problems within marriages and families and often contributes to physical and sexual abuse.
- A new gang called the Z’s has moved into Muzquiz which has taken over the less powerful gangs. The gang is made up primarily of ex-soldiers and is far more organized and strategic than the former gangs.
Christ The Rock's Involvement
- Over the past 10 years, we have sent over 800 people on short term mission trips.
- We were able to put up soccer goals, basketball hoops, swing sets, perform skits/dramas, offer children’s programs, support Pastor Juan, and mostly bring hope to the community.
- Our involvement with District 28 brought attention to the Mayor of Muzquiz who later committed to pave the roads and put up lights for the community and rebuild the plaza. We have made the local news several times and were on two live talk shows. When asked why we are in the news so often, the response was because we love the people and that is newsworthy.
- Today Pastor Juan's church continues to struggle against the odds. He is working to establish youth groups, marriage groups and children's groups.
- One of Pastor Juan's dreams is to provide a daily feeding program and eventually an orphanage for the abandoned children. He has his eye on an abandoned hospital which has 15 rooms. Though it would need some fixing up, it would be a great facility to help get these kids off the streets, into school and to break the cycle of drugs, gangs and prostitution.

- For Pastor Juan and the churches within Muzquiz.
- For the Mayor, police, the military and teachers in Muzquiz.

Christ The Rock's Involvement in Israel
In 1996, the little community of Alfey-Menashe was introduced to Christ The Rock, and a special friendship has developed between this lovely town in the hills of Biblical Samaria and the people of CTR. Throughout the years, we have helped them to establish a youth activity center, planted trees on a barren hilltop, and provided children’s books to the English classes of their elementary school.
Their community commissioned a beautiful stained glass window which was given to our church's prayer room when we moved into our new church building. Each time a CTR group visits Israel, we make a visit to our friends in Alfey-Menashe, where we are treated to Israeli music, shared meals and overnight stays in the homes of people in the town.
The opportunity to experience the real people of Israel in everyday life is always a highlight of the trip.

- Lac Courte Oreilles (Northern Wisconsin Tribe) - Lac Courte Oreilles (LCO) current population is between 3,500 - 4,000 people. The number of people who attend an Evangelical/Pentecostal church is between 1% and 2 %. Christianity (or the "church") has been and is seen by many as an enemy to the culture, language, community, and heritage of the people. So the battle is uphill. That is as a result of an over arching attempt to Christianize or advance Christendom among Native people versus introducing Christ through relationship and as the means to a fulfilled relationship to the Creator of all things. Christianizing led to all kinds of tragedy, atrocity and even oppression. It stems from an old European world view that divided the world into three sectors: the civilized, the barbarian (agrarian), and the savage. Of course the view was that Native people were savage and had to at least be taught how to farm if not become totally civilized by assimilation. This attitude led to an almost complete ignorance of the culture or of any kind of bridge or "key" that already existed as a framework for sharing the Gospel of Jesus. Currently there are five churches meeting: a Church of God, a Catholic Church and school, a house church that was born out of the YWAM ministry, and the Church of Love and Compassion (Foursquare) which Dave now pastors.

Christ The Rock's Involvement in the LCO Tribal Region
Discovery has pioneered many things, one of which is the First Nations Discipleship Training Schools. We were the first in YWAM to hold FN-DTS entirely for native people and then to raise up Native leadership. We had students from Lakota, Ho Chunk, Navajo, Ojibwe, Swampy Cree, Plains Cree, and Athabaskan tribes from all over North America. Some of our former students are involved in full-time ministry, some in team ministry through their churches, a few have become involved in world missions, two planted a church in Mishkeegogamung, Ontario an Ojibwe reserve. We held 12 training schools in all.
