Crossing is where young adults unify to love, connect and impact other young adults for Christ.

Young Adult ministry at Christ the Rock Community Church in Menasha, Wisconsin.  We have bunches of stuff going on in Crossing, but all to serve God and to tell the world about Him. We desire to strengthen the area’s young adults (18-20 something age range) to really know who God is, and have a lasting relationship with Him.  There seems to be a disconnect amongst young adults, and we want to do everything we can to fight that!  In this age group, we’re going to college, moving out, getting married and starting families, starting careers, even staying single and loving it!  So much happens in young-adulthood!

We desire to recognize some of these things, and still provide a safe community to plug in to, opportunities to serve God and others, but most of all, tell others about Jesus, and invite them to explore what life would be like to surrender fully to Him.  There’s so much that could happen if we were committed to each-other, in love, to impact the world around us for Christ… Look at Acts, and what were the people doing when God was moving so much?  Committing…. Acts 2:42 “…And they were devoting themselves to fellowship, to prayer, to the breaking of bread, and to the apostles teaching.”  That’s what we want to do here...

Why are we doing this?

The Post Crescent ran a survey in 2005 that stated “69% of young adults claim to pray, 79% claim to believe in God,” but “45% go to church/temple/other house of worship”  Even if this was completely true – think of how many thousands of young adults that are not even in an environment to encourage their growth with God.  “Out of 100,000 freshmen interviewed fall 2004, four out of five reported an interest in Spirituality.”  There’s young adults all over the valley that do not know who the true God is, and what He’s done for us on the cross… and a whole other slew of people that “believe” in God, but aren’t grounded in His Word, or His community.  You can see so many people trying to fill their hearts with things other than God, and it leads them to even more emptiness.

Crossing desires to address these dynamics, and provide a safe place for people to explore God, and yet be challenged to fully surrender their lives to the only True God. We can’t simply hope young adults will all come through our door, so we are also involved with different projects in the community with hopes to reach more young adults with the love of God, and also spiritually grow the group we already have. What better way to do life than with Him and each-other!

There’s also many cultural dynamics to this age-range, and we want to do our best at equipping young adults to biblically address life’s tough times with God’s truth. Post-modernism has weaved it’s way through much of our thinking, and we desire to be quick to turn to God’s truth in the midst of many tricky doctrines out there for young adults to buy into.

Our Purpose?  We’re here because God’s called us to serve young adults.
Our Vision? Crossing exists to love, connect and impact young adults for Christ.
