The Lie of False Security

As we all experience the chaos facing our society, we can see what it looks like to have our sense of security taken away in a matter of minutes. Jesus Himself faced the temptation of believing the lie that “we are what we have”. In this message, we will explore what God’s word has to tell us about dealing with the temptation of false security, and where we can turn in times of anxiety and fear.

From Series: "Temptation"

Our truest identity and greatest source of strength rests in being God’s children whom He loves. The enemy of our souls uses three primary temptations to pull us away from abiding in the love of Christ. These temptations come up repeatedly in the biblical record, from the serpent’s lies to Eve in Genesis 3 to the Apostle John’s first letter to the church, which refers to the three “things that are in the world.” They show up most vividly, however, in the story of Jesus being tempted in the wilderness. These temptations are ways we grasp for things we were created to enjoy in our relationship with God, but lost in the fall: Security, Belonging, and Significance.
