Changed by Jesus

Changed by Jesus

Do you believe people can change? The older we get, the more pessimistic we might get about this questions. The good news of the Gospel is that deep, heart level change is possible in Christ. 2 Corinthians 5:17 says “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!” As disciples of Jesus, we called to follow him and be changed by him so we can fulfill His mission. It’s an incredible invitation. This message explores what the Bible says about how following Jesus makes change not only possible, but inescapable.

From Series: "Called"

Deep down inside of us, everyone has this sense we’re called to something bigger – that we were made for a purpose greater than ourselves. Everyone feels this desire for their life to make a difference, because God put this desire inside each of us. We’re made in the image of God – which means we’re made in the image of greatness. We’re not meant to live lives of quiet desperation…but that’s what so many experience. When Christ came into the world, he did more than come to save sinners. Jesus came to teach us a way of life meant to save us from quiet desperation. The purpose Jesus called us to is summarized in the first encounter Jesus had in calling His disciples: “While walking by the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon (who is called Peter) and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea, for they were fishermen. And he said to them, ‘Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.’ Immediately they left their nets and followed him.” Matthew 4:18-20 (NIV)
