Biblical hope is different than worldly hope. When we typically use the word hope we express desire and doubt. Biblical hope is defined by confident assurance in God’s character and promises. Biblical hope is not easy to embrace at a heart level. It requires deliberate care and attention to take root. This sermon looks at how scriptures instructs us to cultivate confident, living hope in our hearts.
This series is an Advent word study, part of our year-long focus on growing in our love and understanding of the Bible. We will study four words: peace, hope, joy and love — including where these words appear in the Bible, their context, their meanings in the original language, and more.
