The prayer life of Elijah was extraordinary. His prayers caused a drought, raised a boy from the dead, called fire from heaven and moved God to send rain…and yet James says Elijah was a “human being, just as we are.” There is a lot we can learn from the prayer life of Elijah. This sermon will focus on what we learn about effective prayer through Elijah’s prayer for rain. Elijah’s example teaches us that effective prayer is humble, specific, persistent and expectant.
This series is a character study examining the life of the Old Testament prophet Elijah. Elijah's life and ministry were full of dramatic highs and lows, danger, faith-filled prayer, times of deep intimacy with God, and a drive to draw God's people back to Him.
