The Seriousness of Sin

The Seriousness of Sin

This message begins a seven-week series exploring the historic Christian season of Lent—from Ash Wednesday through Easter Sunday. This rich Christian tradition points us back to the reality of our sin and our desperate need for a Savior. As part of this series we invite you to practice lent by giving up a comfort and adding a practice that draws you closer to Jesus. This first message will explain the purpose of Lent and focus on the seriousness of sin.

From Series: "Empty & Filled"

Our next series will look at the symbol and practices of the season of Lent. Lent is a fixed amount of time set aside to focus on the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus. It's an invitation to interrupt our daily rhythms to symbolically follow Jesus into the wilderness. Lent is a call to fasting and self-denial, though not for the sake of denial itself. It is a period to empty ourselves of lesser things so that we might be filled with the greater things of the gospel.
