The Lie of False Hope

In the age of Coronavirus, there are many things we are tempted to put our trust and hope in. We can say that this season feels a bit like walking through a desert. But where can we turn for hope? How did Jesus handle this temptation in the desert? What can we learn that will take us through this season and beyond? This message explores the Lie of False Hope.

From Series: "Temptation"

Our truest identity and greatest source of strength rests in being God’s children whom He loves. The enemy of our souls uses three primary temptations to pull us away from abiding in the love of Christ. These temptations come up repeatedly in the biblical record, from the serpent’s lies to Eve in Genesis 3 to the Apostle John’s first letter to the church, which refers to the three “things that are in the world.” They show up most vividly, however, in the story of Jesus being tempted in the wilderness. These temptations are ways we grasp for things we were created to enjoy in our relationship with God, but lost in the fall: Security, Belonging, and Significance.
