God planted a desire to make a difference in the heart of every human being. We are hardwired for significance. The problem is that we often fall short of our potential or the things we pursue to feel significant leave us feeling empty. Jesus teaches that real significance (and our truest self) can only be found by abiding in friendship with him. Jesus said, “You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit and that your fruit should abide (John 15:16:a ESV). This sermon explores how our life finds its ultimate purpose in our abiding friendship with Jesus.
On Sunday, January 5, join us for the start of a new message series: Abide. It's not a word we use often, but it's the word Jesus used to describe the kind of relationship He wants to have with us. As a new year begins, we will study John 15 together and discover how abiding in Jesus affects every aspect of our lives, and transforms us into to the people God always intended us to be.
