Jesus’ 3rd “I Am” statement is arguably the most unusual and seemingly underwhelming of all of His statements. In Chapter 10, Jesus makes the claim that He is the sheep door. A door does not seem very impressive… until you think about what a significant role they play in our lives. We use doors every day to pass through walls. By referencing a door Jesus makes the most important “inclusive, exclusive” statement ever uttered. Jesus makes the claim that He is THE door… the only door that provides passage through the wall of sin that separates us from God. In addition, Jesus warns us to be aware of false teachers who contradict His bold statement and promises the abundant life to those who believe Jesus is Who He says He is.
