Jesus said, “I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing." (John 15:5 ESV). There is a person that God intends us to be. We are not yet that person. In this teaching Jesus reminds us that it's not through striving or self-effort that we change or grow, but only by the power of the Holy Spirit flowing through our connection to Jesus.
On Sunday, January 5, join us for the start of a new message series: Abide. It's not a word we use often, but it's the word Jesus used to describe the kind of relationship He wants to have with us. As a new year begins, we will study John 15 together and discover how abiding in Jesus affects every aspect of our lives, and transforms us into to the people God always intended us to be.
